Mission Beach, Australia

Our next stop was a small town up the coast called Mission Beach. We stopped here to do a day trip out to the Great Barrier Reef for a full day of snorkeling. It was seriously awesome! I snorkeled once in Thailand on a sailing trip, but the reef here is on another level. We took a boat two hours out from shore and snorkeled in the outer portion of the reef which was so much better than the snorkeling we did at the Whitsunday Islands. The colors of the fish and coral don’t look real because they are so bright and vibrant. Some of the coral even looked fluorescent in the sun.

Another cool thing about Mission Beach was that there were wallabies everywhere. They were literally right outside our motel doors. The wallaby is in the same family as the kangaroo but they are smaller in size. Super cute animals.

More pictures to come, but here is a sneak peek of the coral in the reef.

They were everywhere, it was so cool. This was right behind our motel at sunset.

We went to two different dive sites in Beaver Reef.
