Next up, Hobbiton! If you’re a fan of The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit books/movies this is a must-do while in New Zealand. They left the set of The Shire as a permanent tourist attraction after filming was complete in 2014.

The village they constructed is like something straight out of a fairy tale, it was pretty magical to walk around after seeing all the movies. There were beautiful flowers and butterflies everywhere. So idyllic. You can easily see why they picked this location to film the movies.

It’s an exterior set, so all of the hobbit homes have no interiors. I think only one had an interior for use to film out the windows, but you weren’t allowed to go inside. The interiors of the homes were filmed in a studio in Wellington, New Zealand. Even still, it was awesome and I highly recommend a visit if this is something you are into.
