We took a day trip from Bologna to Ferrera since it’s only a 30 minute train ride away. Ferrera definitely had that small town feel. Not as many people spoke English. Hardly any tourists. Good food. It was a nice stop.

Estense Castle

This medieval castle in the middle of Ferrera is surrounded by a moat. It was built as a defensive fortress and it’s construction started in the 14th century.
