Paris – First Impression

Let the tour begin! So I booked with the company Geckos Adventures on their “London to Rome by Rail” trip. We spent two days in each city over the course of 31 days. So we ended up covering 11 different countries and 15 cities in one month. Pretty insane! It was quick, but such a great orientation to Europe. I met up with my tour group in London at 6:00 pm on May 4th, and then we immediately left for Paris the next morning.

Travel time

London to Paris via the Eurostar high-speed train takes 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Orientation Walk

After checking-in, we always began with an orientation walk given by our tour leader. This usually took anywhere from 1-3 hours depending on the size of the city and how many times we stopped along the way. After the orientation walk, we were officially free to do whatever we wanted for the next day and a half!

First Impression

Paris was everything I imagined. The food was amazing and did not disappoint. It was very romantic, fashion centered and filled with history. With only 36 hours to spend in the City of Love, it was a little overwhelming deciding where to start. The day we arrived was beautiful outside, but we checked the weather forecast and learned that the next day was going to be cold and rainy. So with that in mind, we decided to spend all of our time on day one outside exploring. We covered a lot of ground and walked by so many iconic sites! My next post will include all the details, so for now, just enjoy the photos and videos below.

Louvre Museum

Seine River

Love Lock Bridge

Notre Dame

Sacre-Coeur Basilica

Why are all those people sitting on the steps? Well, this is the view! Can you spot Notre Dame in the distance?

Montmartre Neighborhood

Cafes of Montmartre

One of my favorite memories from the entire trip was sitting on the steps of Sacre-Coeur at sunset. It basically checked off every ingredient for my ideal evening: amazing view, new friends, cold beers and live music. What more could you ask for?! It was perfect. We were surrounded by people from all over the world and united by music. My tour leader said this musician frequently plays here on Friday nights. Here are some videos so you can get the full experience!

Wonderwall…

You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one…
